Brandy is a spirit produced by distilling wine (or in the case of fruit brandies, other fruits). Brandy generally contains 35–60% alcohol by volume and is typically taken as an after-dinner drink. Most high quality brandies are aged in wooden casks for various periods from 6 months to 10 or more years.
