Do you have a physical store front?
Yes, we welcome people to visit our shop. We are located at 363 Colombo St, Sydenham, Christchurch, New Zealand. Stop in and say hi.

Are you a bar?
We are not a bar. We are licensed for off-premise, takeaway sales only.

Are you going to be a bar at some point?
We are looking into the possibility of having an on site tasting area, but there are tonnes of things to think about to turn our space into something suitable for serving alcohol on site. For now we are focusing on being the best little bottle shop we can be.

What are your hours?
Our retail storefront is open every day except Christmas Day, New Years Day, Good Friday, Easter, and before 1pm on ANZAC Day. You can make online orders 24-7, but delivery will will only occur between 9am and 10pm and will not be made on the previously mentioned holidays.

Daily Hours:
10am - 6pm Sunday - Tuesday
10am - 7pm Wednesday - Saturday

How much is shipping?
We have several shipping options to meet your needs.  

Standard Shipping: We charge a flat rate of $7.99 ($12.99 for rural delivery) for delivery anywhere in New Zealand no matter how much you buy. 

One Hour Express: On weekdays from 10am-5pm we also offer 1 hour express shipping within the Christchurch CBD for $9.99 (see below map for city limits).

When will I receive my shipment?
In general orders placed before noon will be processed same day.  Orders placed after noon will be processed the next business day.  You will receive your order in about 1 week after payment has cleared. Delivery times may be shorter for South Island and urban addresses, and longer for North Island and rural addresses. You will receive a tracking number by email when your order has been processed and ready to be picked up by the courier. Orders will not be processed or delivered on public holidays or weekends.

We cannot guarantee​ that you will always receive your shipment within these timelines due to courier delays and other unforeseen complications, but will try our very best. Please allow for extra time during the busy holiday periods of November and December.

Can you ship outside of New Zealand?
Unfortunately we can only deliver to a New Zealand address.

Can you ship to a PO Box or private bag?
No, we can only deliver to a physical address.

Do I have to be home to receive my shipment?
Yes, alcohol regulations require that you or someone over 18 must sign for the package.

How do I pay online?
For your convenience we offer payment by credit card/EFTPOS (via PayPal), PayPal and bank transfer. However, bank transfer is preferred.

Do you offer a SOBA discount?
Yes!  All SOBA members receive 5% off their beer purchases when they present their SOBA card.  This offer is not available online at this time.

What is SOBA?
Society Of Beer Advocates (SOBA) is a beer advocacy and social group with meet-ups and discounts throughout New Zealand.  You can join here.

​Can you get Pliny/Heady Topper/Three Floyds/Westvleteren?
No. These beers, along with so many others, are hard to get in their own cities, let alone half way around the world. But if you have an idea for what we should stock, let us know and we'll try our best. We're always looking for new and interesting beers.

Ok, but I see Sierra Nevada/Stone/Dogfish Head/Lagunitas in other shops, why don't you stock those?
These beers are currently brought in through grey market channels. Grey market beer is a beer that has been imported into a country without the approval, knowledge, or support of the brewer. Because of this, they are often imported indirectly from countries where the brewer does operate. Many times they have been mishandled (unrefrigerated) and are old and expensive by the time they reach the retailer because the chain of distribution is so long. We stay away from distributors we know to do this because it's bad for the brewer's brand, it's bad for the retailer's image, it's definitely bad for the beer, and hence bad for you, the customer. The only people benefiting from this practice in the long term are the shipping companies who move increasingly old product from port to port. The first question we ask new suppliers is, "Where did you get your beer and how is it being handled?"

Do you sell gift vouchers?
Yes, you can purchase vouchers in the shop.

Can you do private events?
Yes! We can accommodate up to 30 people for private tasting events. We require one month's notice to give us time to submit for the proper licenses. Just email us and we can go from there.
